I love this edition! So glad to hear Dept. Q is so good. I started it but was sidetracked with films and made a note to come back to it with proper attention as I loved it was set in Edinburgh and felt the city is a perfect setting for a noir series.
And I will definitely listen to that episode of Modern Love with Celine Song as I’m very curious about her stint as a matchmaker.
I really do love the Modern Love podcast - I don’t listen to it religiously, but whenever I dip in I find the conversations really rich. Hope you like this one. I can’t work out if I find Celine Song too earnest - I think she’s a very people person and so is always so upbeat (but thoughtful)!
I have listened to her in press interviews for Past Lives and I know what you mean. She doesn't hold back but it's refreshing to hear someone speaking candidly about how her personal experiences have shaped her creative output.
It is a lot of dark on dark! I’m interested to see how they tie it all up in the last couple of episodes. I am a fan of dark humour so a lot of that is working for me 😄
Loved just about everything about Dept Q! Hearing good things about Smoke over on AppleTV and not great things about the latest season of the Bear. Nothing like a good series to enjoy in the AC this summer. x
I've joined Gillian on the Dept. Q bandwagon and am instantly a Matthew Goode fan. I really do hope The Bear doesn't let us down Sally! And the AC battles at home have begun (at least we have it is all I keep thinking!).
Dept. Q was my pleasant surprise of the year. I didn't expect too much out of it outside of just knowing everyone seemed to love it. But this first episode wowed me! And then the characters just really sweeted the deal. Morck is such a douche and so grumpy but also so sweet in the end.
Loved Materialists and can’t wait for the new Bond. I’m a big Villeneuve fan!

Loved this mix of noir and nostalgia. Dept Q didn't quite hit the mark for me. I think it may be me, I like light with my dark :)

I keep seeing great things about Smoke! I'm definitely intrigued now that I finished Dept. Q I'm ready for the next crime show.
